Bible Knights Quest!

Bible Challenge 2009 - Week 13

Knights and Ladies,

"As for the person who hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it. There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day."
John 12:47-48

Who is Jesus? Who did He claim to be?

Jesus didn’t come to judge while here on earth, but to proclaim the kingdom of heaven, to save us and show us the way of salvation. He is the only begotten Son of God, the Savior that took the punishment for our sin. Believe it and have eternal life, do not believe it and His very testimony, His words, will be our judge.

Jesus I believe!

“Beholding in Jesus the glory of the Father, we learn to obey, love, and trust in him. By daily looking to Him, who came a Light into the world, we are more and more freed from the darkness of ignorance, error, sin, and misery; we learn that the command of God our Saviour is everlasting life. But the same word will seal the condemnation of all who despise it, or neglect it.”

“During the first centuries of Christianity, the church was battered within and without. Pseudo-Christians distorted the faith and misled the faithful, while the powerful Roman Empire persecuted Christians with torture and death. The persecutions ended when, by God's mercy, the Roman Emperor Constantine had a miraculous conversion in 312 AD. However, a new distortion of the faith was about to arise. A priest named Arius proposed that, if Christ is the Son of the Father, he can't be the same age as the Father. Christ must have been created by God, at some point before the universe was made.

That theory may sound familiar to you; throughout the centuries, there have been many who find it more appealing to see Jesus as an exalted man than to recognize him as fully God. The teachings of Arius provoked great controversy, and Emperor Constantine summoned church leaders from around the known world to come to Nicaea, a suburb of Constantinople, to settle the matter (not to reconfigure the canon and burn the banished books, as many have claimed). The Council of Nicaea rejected Arianism and affirmed that Jesus is truly God — ‘begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father.’”

Independence Day Family Devotional

July 4 Family Devotional

This is a short devotional I wrote to share with the kids.

Independence Day – July 4th

The American colonies were once ruled by a bad King, much like God warned Samuel about when we trust in and depend on earthly kings instead of God:

“’This is what the king who will reign over you will do: He will take your sons. . . He will take your daughters. . . He will take the best [of everything you have]. . . and you yourselves will become his slaves.’”
- Paraphrase of 1 Samuel 8:7, 11-18

Thankfully, the leaders of the 13 American colonies decided to declare independence from the rule of the bad King and rule themselves. In the Declaration of Independence, they declared:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights,

These truths of our Creator God are self-evident, as the Apostle Paul says, “since what may be known about God [the Creator] is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.”
- Romans 1:19-20

The founding fathers also declared the role and limited power of government:

That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it,
- The Declaration of Independence

By God’s Providence and the leadership of General George Washington America became a free and independent nation!

Acknowledge and Praise God and then may God bless America!

Bible Knights Quest!

Bible Challenge 2009 - Week 12

Knights and Ladies,

"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him."
John 3:36

The penalty, God’s wrath, for breaking just one of God’s commands is death!

We can’t get into heaven on our own! We can’t just be good; we can’t possibly be good enough; we can’t possibly do enough good works! We can’t design our own way in.

Have you ever told a lie? I have, that makes me a liar.
Have you ever stolen anything? I have, that makes me a thief.
Have you ever lusted after a man or woman in your heart? I have, Jesus calls that adultery, and that makes me an adulterer.

That means I’m a lying, thieving, adulterer, and that’s only 3 of the 10 commandments of God!

The only way to avoid the penalty is if someone that has not broken any of God’s commands took your penalty for you, and that is exactly what Jesus Christ did!

By Jesus voluntarily taking our punishment for us we are granted eternal life after our time in this world ends.

By faithfully accepting this gift from Jesus we are saved! Do you know Jesus?

Who would have imagined that the Holy One of God would voluntarily take upon himself the curse that should have been ours? This emblem of shame has thus become the symbol of our salvation.”

The Family is God's Smallest Battle Formation!

Fathers, Are You Ready for Battle?

Fathers, I am making a special call to arms!

Before the church or governments, God ordained the family. (Matthew 19:4-6) It is your duty to lay the foundations of the faith within your family. The latest statistic I have heard is that 74% of children walk away from the faith by the time they reach college! 90% of young people that leave the faith went to public schools, and 61% attended sunday school regularly. Are you leaving the salvation of your children up to the church and sunday school? If so, you may just loose them!

I would encourage you, exhort you, to prepare yourself to answer the hard questions of the faith and lay the foundations in your family!

The number one method God uses to evangelize the world is through Godly families! Godly parents raising Godly children that become Godly parents to raise Godly children. . . .

Do you see? God's small group design from the sixth day of creation is called a family!

The very first commandment is for families to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:28), the greatest commandment, quoted by Jesus, is to love the Lord our God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength, and how, by impressing God's commendments upon your children! (Deuteronomy 6:5-7)

This is so awesome, our God is so awesome!!

Apologetics: [Greek Apologia] "'Apologetics is the discipline that deals with a rational defense of Christian faith' (Geisler, 1999, p. 37). "

Just last night I was heavy with the burden of laying the foundations of the faith for my family. It can sometimes feel like an impossible duty in these troubling times. So I prayed. I prayed that God would show me how and provide the tools.

And today, I stumble across this article, “Ready Always to Give an Answer
by Caleb Colley, B.A., B.S. It evaluates the different styles of apologetics and offers 3 steps to get started.

"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect," (1 Peter 3:15)

1. Study the Bible
2. Study Apologetics Resources
3. Engage Others

I was heavily burndend because of the lack of resources and ministry within the chruches of God, but don't fear! There are many resources available, and many Godly families to draw teaching and encouragement from!

Fathers, Be Prepared!

Be ready to give your children the answers and teach them to find and defend the faith!

CURE, the Coalition for Urban Renewal & Education

I have read, and have been very impressed with, Star Parker's commentaries in the past. I just learned that she is "the founder and president of CURE, the Coalition for Urban Renewal & Education, a 501c3 non-profit think tank that provides a national voice of reason on issues of race and poverty in the media, inner city neighborhoods, and public policy."

She has also become a contributor for Family Security Matters.

Both appear to be great organizations, and I felt I should share.
